Geometric progression

The general form of geometric progression is:( what is arithmetic progression?)

a, ar, ar², ar³, ar⁴, ..

Formula:

t_n = ar^n-1

where a, the first term

r, the common ratio

Example:

Find the 6^th term of the Geometric sequence 64, 16, 4....

Solution: a = 64, r = 16 / 64

r = 1/4

t_n = ar^6–1

t₆ = ar^6–1

= ar⁵

t₆ = 64(1/4)⁵

= 64(1/1024)

t₆ = 1/16

Hence the 6^th term of Geometric sequence is 1/16
